REVIEWS FROM THE DESK OF SWAMI RADHANANDA:

"Crooked Cucumber" was the name Shunryu Suzuki Roshiąs teacher gave him as a boy because he was like the cucumbers that were thrown away, but through dedication and practice Suzuki went on to lead an inspiring life. It always astonishes me how much one person whose mind is set on their practice and whose life is true to their ideals can influence others. As with many great teachers, Suzuki Roshi simply showed that he was truly human. He had an inner core of strength and a knowing that is immediately recognizable. As Suzuki Roshi said, "when the inner is strong, the outer responds." This is a very readable book. I couldnąt put it down.

Swami Radhananda is the president and spiritual director of Yasodhara Ashram, established in British Columbia in 1969.
