Master builder Paul Discoe studied Art History and Philosophy as an undergraduate in the United States, and Buddhist temple design and construction in Japan. Joinery Structures, the design/build firm he founded in 1988, integrates traditional Japanese carpentry and architectural styles with contemporary construction. Projects include the Greens Restaurant, as well as many of the buildings at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center and Green Gulch Farm, and an extensive home and garden complex for Oracle’s Larry Ellison.

Aritistry in Wood and Joinery: Traditional Form as Contemporary Design generously supported by Tin Man Fund, Ron Herman, Sonoma County Woodworker’s Association, and Mount Storm Forest Products.
